Border Patrol agents, Ramos and Compean, were convicted of wounding a Mexican drug smuggler who they testified entered the U.S. illegally then abandoned a van filled with over $1M in drugs before threatening them with a gun and fleeing into Mexico.
The agents served over 23 months in solitary confinement under conditions considered far worse than the terrorists held in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
President George W. Bush commuted their sentences as his last official act before leaving office.
